Overflow Rates of the Liquid He(II) Depending on Materials of Vessels

Abstract
Flow dynamics of thin films of normal liquids have been solved by Sasaki and it is also suggested that the overflow rate of the liquid He(II) from vessels strongly related with an interaction energy between He-atoms and surface atoms of the vessels as well as the shape of the vessels. In this paper, experimental facts which qualitatively support the theory are presented. The liquid He(II) in two small glass test tubes in a cryostat shows a clear difference in their top surface levels if the glass surface of one of the tubes is coated by paraffin. The liquid He(II) in a lead vessel has gone away within two hours but the liquid He(II) in a teflon vessel in the same size and in the same condition as above stay for about thirty hours.Keywords
