Abstract
An argument is presented which indicates that if g is the degree of the critical isotherm, d the degree of the coexistence curve, and f the power of ∥ Tc—T ∥—1 with which the isothermal compressibility becomes infinite as the critical point is approached, then g=1+fd. The relation of this result to other theoretical and experimental facts is discussed. Keywords
