Metabolism of polycyclic compounds

Abstract
The adm. of 1:2:5:6-dibenzanthracene or 3:4:5:6-dibenzcarbazole to rats or rabbits caused an increase in the excretion of ethereal sulphate in the urine. A phenolic derivative, dihydroxy-l:2:5:6-dibenzanthracene was isolated from the urine of rabbits fed on a diet containing 1:2:5:6-dibenzanthracene. This phenol was characterized and several derivatives prepared.
