Abstract
The performance of three designs of electromagnetic flowmeter having large-area electrodes is analysed using the weight function concept for rectilinear flows. The problem of electrode fouling and the consequent change in performance is examined for certain extreme cases. It is shown that the resulting errors may be as high as 12%.Keywords
