Abstract
The position of the eyeballs is measured by means of electrical oculographic potentials derived from electrodes placed on the temples of a subject. These potentials are a function of the position of the eyeball. Electrical differentiation of these potentials furnishes a record of the eye velocity; repeated differentiation, a record of the eye acceleration which is proportional to the force exercised by the extrinsic ocular muscles. The velocity of the eye movement towards the periphery is lower than the one towards the center. The eyeball velocity increases with the angle of movement. Typical results of eye movement and reading patterns are presented. Keywords
