Abstract
A new figure of merit - visual efficiency - is presented, which is derived from objective quality measures (such as MTF) and the working state of the eye. It is shown that, whilst no single figure of merit can apply absolutely to all types of presented object, visual efficiency can be used to derive relative performance for many definable objects. Keywords
