Abstract
The previous works on the motions of visco-plastic fluids in porous media are generalized in order to include the phenomenon of hysteresis. Only slowly varying motions are studied to any extent, when all inertial terms can be neglected without appreciable error. A general equation is deduced and some features of the motion are discussed. Simple particular cases without free or seepage surfaces are considered, when the fluid moves in the whole porous medium. A plane example points out the existence of different regions of motion during the variation of the heads in upper and lower water reservoirs. The necessity of further research on the flow of visco-plastic fluids through porous media is emphasized. Keywords
