Abstract
Foliar application of an aqueous seaweed extract to sugar beet produced significant increases in the root weight, root sugar content and in clarified juice purity. The amino-N and K contents of the extracted juice from the seaweed-extract-treated plants were significantly reduced. Significant results were obtained when the extract was applied in late May, but no significant effect was recorded when the extract was applied in late April. The results obtained are discussed in relation to the high cytokinin activity of seaweed extracts. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
