Abstract
The calculation of transient processes in synchronous machines using conventional models may lead to wrong results. The causes of these errors are explained and accordingly the synchronous-machine model is extended. For a correct simulation, in addition to the established characteristic quantities also the characteristic quantity xc should be known. Moreover, it is advisable to consider the influence of solid iron. This calls for a more precise quadrature-axis simulation than have been used up to now. For this purpose the quadrature-axis magnetization characteristic should be considered. Typical examples demonstrate the influence of model on calculation resultsKeywords
