Abstract
A brief description is given of three approaches to user-interface development: tool kits, user-interface management systems (UIMS), and interactive design tools. Six selected tools are then introduced, in separate presentations, by their originating organization. They provide a cross-section of work in progress today. The tools selected represent a combination of traditional UIMs and new interactive design tools, although they all call themselves UIMs. The tools covered are: UIMX; Jam; Speedcode Universe; Serpent; Framer; and Mode. Keywords
