Abstract
Optical systems are particularly adept at performing high speed multiplication and division, which are the operations required for matrix multiplication. Implementing these operations in an integrated optical circuit (IOC) has the additional advantage of compactness and manufacturability. In this paper it is shown how analog integrated optical components can be assembled to design compact 10Cs for implementing both analog and digital algorithms for carrying out matrix multiplication. Keywords
