Abstract
Last May, in Denver, the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA) held its first annual session. In December, at its winter scientific meeting in Las Vegas, the American Medical Association sponsored a symposium on "Holistic Medicine and Health Care." Although "holistic medicine" (sometimes spelled "wholistic") is not yet listed in the Index Medicus, there is a growing literature on the subject, and some people espouse it fervently as an important new development in the health-care field.Dorland's says that "holistic" means "considering man as a functioning whole," which seems to fit with the AHMA's description of itself as an organization . . .Keywords
