Abstract
Discusses the recent interest in a stakeholder approach as an alternative approach to competitive individualism in organizations. Examines the economic philosophy which underpins the traditional view of shareholder primacy and explores whether the approach is viable and realistic in contemporary circumstances. Concludes that in future, the stakeholder approach may be a commercial necessity.Keywords
