Genetic Counseling

Abstract
As more and more genetic diseases have been identified and their mode of inheritance defined, it has become apparent that the community physician can do much to assist in the “prophylaxis” against these disorders. The situations in which he can directly advise on the risk that an affected child may be born are delineated as well as those in which he will prefer to seek guidance from the specialized counselor.
