Abstract
Laser-induced plasmas are highly transient phenomena, lasting for several microseconds. The lines of a plasma spectrum do not appear simultaneously, and, furthermore, they exist for a range of lifetimes. Time-resolved laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (TRELIBS) has been shown to be effective in increasing the line-to-background ratios of spectra. The results of time-resolved spectroscopy of the excimer laser-induced plasmas of iron ore are presented. The period of the plasma lifetime which is optimum for spectrochemical analysis of ore was determined. Keywords
