Abstract
Both whole-beam and transverse continuous wave optical bistability are observed at milliwatt power levels near the band gap in thin uncoated cadmium sulphide platelets. The whole-beam bistability is free from cavities and requires an absorption coefficient that increases with intensity. Keywords
