Abstract
A simple method for estimating the inclination of recorded magnetization using the Bitter technique is proposed. Based on the theory of Bitter pattern evolution, the pattern of a recording medium with inclined magnetization is calculated. The pattern generally becomes asymmetric with respect to recording transitions after applying an external field during the pattern evolution. The pattern only becomes symmetric, however, when the field is in the direction determined by the inclination of recorded magnetization. Measuring this field direction enables us to determine the inclination of the recorded magnetization. Keywords
