Abstract
Treatment of cyclic hematopoiesis in the grey collie dog with lithium carbonate eliminated recurrent neutropenia and normalized the other blood cell counts. Apparently human cyclic hematopoiesis may be successfully treated with Li. The effects of Li on monocytes, platelets and reticulocytes and neutrophils suggest that Li operates on basic regulatory mechanisms affecting the most primitive hematopoietic precursor cells.
