Abstract
Differential single electron capture probabilities P are reported for ions C2+, N2+, O2+ impacting He, Ne, Ar in the energy range 1-3 keV. They are analysed in terms of the impact parameter b and compared with calculations of Bates et al. (1970). P(b) is an oscillating function falling to zero outside b=rx, the calculated nuclear separation of pseudo-crossing of potential energy curves. This is used as a diagnostic of curve-crossing situations, especially those involving coupling to excited states. Keywords
