Abstract
The establishment of significant orientation polarizations for a series of symmetrically N-substituted piperazines including N,N′-dichloro-2,5-↑↓-dimethylpiperazine, which was prepared anew, confirms the report of Partington and contradicts that of Hassel. The existence of these moments is not compatible with the postulation of a favored chair conformation especially in consideration of the proton magnetic resonances of N.N′-dimethylpiperazine and N,N′-diformylpiperazine. On the other hand the experiments favor the postulation of flexible conformation for these piperazines. Keywords
