Abstract
Field tests with chemical extracts of various body sections of adult caddisflies indicate that the female 5th abdominal sternite in the seriocostomatids Gumaga nigricula (McL.) and G. griseola (McL.) and the limnephilid Dicosmoecus gilvipes (Hagen) contains a substance that attracts conspecific males. This sex pheromone most likely is produced by the paired exocrine glands located on th 5th sternite. Chemical extracts of female G. nigricula also attracted G. griseola males. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
