Asian Influenza

Abstract
IN previous publications1 , 2 it was reported that in the large closed population of this institution a few elderly patients of mid-European origin had serologic evidence of previous experience with influenza virus similar to, if not actually identical to, the Asian strain. Furthermore, as an original vaccination 1 ml., — equivalent to 500 C.C.A. (chicken-cell-agglutinating) units, — injected subcutaneously, was superior to 0.1 ml. (50 C.C.A. units) of the same vaccine injected intradermally; when a second injection of 0.1 ml. (20 C.C.A. units) intradermally, or 1 ml. (200 C.C.A. units) subcutaneously, was administered four weeks after initial vaccination with 1 ml. . . .
