Age and Growth of the Inconnu (Stenodus leucichthys) in Alaska

Abstract
Studies of three anadromous groups (Kuskokwim River, lower Yukon River, Kobuk–Selawik area) and two fluvial groups (upper Yukon River and Minto Flats) of inconnu (Stenodus leucichthys) showed Kuskokwim River fish to be the fastest growing, reaching 81 cm in 10 years. Fish from the slower-growing Kobuk–Selawik samples attained weights over 20 kg and lengths of 110 cm while fish over 12 kg and 100 cm were uncommon from other waters. Females in all groups studied lived longer than males. Age at sexual maturity ranged from 5 to 9 years for males and 7 to 12 years for females.Keywords
