Abstract
The scope and magnitude of increases in skin cancer incidence in the U.S. are described, as well as the associative factor of ultraviolet radiation exposure. The protection offered by routine application of sunscreen preparations is discussed as an essential part of a preventive regimen. Recommendations are presented for educational strategies that can be implemented in community and school settings. Presently-available educational resources, as well as those in the developmental stages, also are identified. Keywords
