Abstract
Diseases consequent to infection with mycobacterial organisms, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacterial species, remain a significant health problem in the United States. Over the past decade several new factors have amplified this problem, the most significant of which is the ongoing epidemic of infection with the human immunodeficiency virus. This review will discuss the changing epidemiology of mycobacterial disease and emphasize the significance of these changes to the radiologist. Keywords
