Abstract
The optical fiber drawing process has been found to produce defect centers. E'-centers induced by the drawing process were observed in both pure silica and GeO2-doped silica fibers using electron spin resonance techniques. The E'-center concentration increases with both drawing velocity and temperature at the preform neckdown region. Keywords
