Abstract
Although a significant amount of histamine is released into plasma during contrast media injections, there still is no evidence for an immunologic basis of contrast media reactions. This study suggests that in vitro [human] leukocyte challenge may be of predictive value in contrast media reactions. Lassar''s study in dogs and this study in humans shows that complement activation by the alternative pathway occurs during contrast agent administration. The pathophysiological significance of this observation is not clear. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
