Abstract
A new method is developed for solving the wave equation for two regions A and B separated by a surface, in terms of known Green functions for A and B with arbitrary boundary conditions on the surface. The formalism is suitable for treating impurities, alloys, and surface problems, and a simple application to find the bounds states of a square well potential is given to illustrate the method. Keywords
