ON THE APPEARANCE OF SOME INTERIOR BRAIN STRUCTURES IN RELATION TO THE EXTERIOR CONFIGURATION OF THE BRAIN

Abstract
By measuring the antero-posterior and the sloping fronto-occipital diameters the symmetry or asymmetry of the individual hemispheres of a hundred brains taken at random were studied. The hemispheres were symmetrical in 41 brains; the left hemisphere was longer in 34, and the right hemisphere was longer in the remaining 25 brains. With regard to the symmetry or asymmetry of the individual hemispheres a study was made of the morphology and topography of the capsula interna, the optic radiation, the lateral ventricles, the hippocampus, the dentate gyrus, the corpora mammillaria, the red nucleus, the substantia nigra, and the dentate nucleus.
