Abstract
In this paper we discuss the influence of the PAULI principle on some properties of nuclear systems consisting of a cluster surrounded by many other nucleons; to do this we use two models. We find that, though transition probabilities may be influenced drastically, the general features of the energetical behaviour of such systems is practically unaffected by the exclusion principle. The consequences for real nuclei are discussed: For instance, closed shells remain energetically favoured even if surrounded by many other nucleons. Keywords
