Abstract
Aqueous extracts of 10 plants, used in Somalian traditional medicine for treatment of diarrhoeal diseases, have been screened for effects against cholera toxin‐induced intestinal hypersecretion in mice. Two extracts inhibited the hypersecretion more than 50% (compared to a control group, receiving saline). For two extracts the effect did not differ significantly from the controls. The rest of the extracts showed inhibiting activities ranging from 25% to 43%.Keywords
