Abstract
The biosynthesis of phospholipids in human placenta was studied by using either tissue slices or subcellular fractions. When radioactive glycerol was incubated with tissue slices the glycerol was incorporated primarily into triglycerides and choline phosphoglycerides. In a similar way radioactive choline was incorporated into only choline-phosphoglycerides while ethanolamine was incorporated only into ethanolamine phosphoglycerides. Placenta microsomes and mitochondria are able to carry out a condensation of CDP-choline and diglycerides to produce choline phosphoglycerides. Keywords
