Abstract
A computer simulation method was developed for and applied in the study of aerosol deposition in granular media. A modified Happel model was used to characterize the structure of granular media. Based on comparisons with available experimental data, an empirical correction factor, the capture probability that accounts for the various complications arising from the presence of particle deposits on the media, was established. By combining the use of this correction factor together with the simulation method, accurate prediction of aerosol collection in granular media with significant deposition can be made. Keywords
