Switching overvoltages in short crossbonded cable systems using the Fourier transform

Abstract
A mathematical model of a single major section of a crossbonded cable system is developed, and an outline of the Fourier-transform method of determining transient-voltage waveforms in the system is presented. Crossbonded cables are analysed in terms of the parameters of the constituent homogeneous sections. These parameters are compounded by using a rotation matrix at each crossbonding point. Conductor-voltage and sheath-voltage waveforms are calculated at various points along typical systems comprising one and two major sections, respectively.
