Abstract
The enantiomeric composition of 3-octanol produced by the ants,Crematogaster castanea Forel andC. liengmei F. Smith, as a component of their alarm pheromone complex, has been determined to beS-(+)-3-octanol by gas chromatography of the diastereomericS-(+)-3-octanylR-(+)-trans-chrysanthemates.Keywords
