Abstract
The effect of corticotropin (ACTH) on circulating eosinophils and certain collagen diseases led us to use it in a case of eosinophilic granuloma. We hoped that it would cause a regression of the lesion by its action on the proliferating collagenous stroma and on the masses of eosinophils contained therein. Since we have found no report in the literature of the effect of the drug on this disease, we are reporting this case.REPORT OF A CASEA 32-year-old farmer came to the clinic May 2, 1949, because of a swollen jaw. He gave a history of pain in the left posterior part of the lower jaw in September, 1948, which had led to removal of the molars in that region. One month later the gums had become painful, had broken open, and had drained. In December, 1948, the right lower molars had been removed, and this procedure was followedKeywords
