Abstract
A study is made of the accuracy with which two-beam lattice fringe images of modulated structures can be interpreted, with particular reference to spinodally decomposed alloys. The dependence of the image upon foil thickness, lens parameters and atomic segregation is discussed and the importance these parameters have upon similar images from any region of slowly varying interplanar spacings is outlined. Keywords
