Abstract
New taxa are described from dolostones of the Lower Albanel Formation. The branching columnar Mistassinia wabassinon n.g. n.f. is characterized by concentric, bipartite organization and strong bimodal development of lamina shape. Straticonophyton icon n.g. n.f. occurs with Stratifera icon n. comb. in partially silicified, metre-sized colleniellid mounds characterized by extremely fine, uniform laminae with high inheritance. The application of the two independent and fundamentally different concepts of stromatolite (macromorphology) and spongiostrome (microstructure) to a more orderly taxonomy is discussed. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
