Abstract
A Malvern particle sizer was used to measure the size of droplets leaving the throttle plate of a carburettor fuelling a four-cylinder test-bed engine. The effect of engine vibration on the measured values was investigated and techniques were developed to keep the viewing windows clear of impinging droplets. Droplet size distributions are reported for various engine loads. Keywords
