Multiple-scattering effects in surface extended x-ray absorption fine structure

Abstract
A multiple-scattering approach is used in the analysis of the surface entended x-ray absorption fine structure (SEXAFS) oscillations of O and N on Ni(100) and O on Ni(110) and Cu(110). As a result details about the reconstruction of N and O on Ni and Cu are obtained. The analysis demonstrates for the first time that a single-scattering approach for low-Z SEXAFS is not adequate.
