Abstract
C. diurnum responded to an 8-hour photoperiod and changes from a 16-hour or longer photoperiod to a 12-hour or shorter photoperiod. Some flowering occurred in older plants when moved from continual light to a 16-hour or 18-hour photoperiod. C. nocturnum responded to a 12-hour or longer photoperiod, changes from a 16-hours or longer photoperiod to a 12 -hour or shorter photoperiod, and changes from an 8 -hour to a 12-hour or longer photoperiod. These data indicate that C. diurnum is a short-day plant and that C. nocturnum is both a long-day and long-short day plant.
