Abstract
THE term "autoantibodies" has been applied to immunoglobulins of a person capable of reacting with his own naturally occurring antigens. In patients with pernicious anemia several different kinds of autoantibodies have been demonstrated.1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 Two of these are circulating antibodies directed against intrinsic factor alone or a complex of intrinsic factor with vitamin B12. One (the "blocking" antibody) inhibits the attachment of vitamin B12 to intrinsic factor,1 2 3 4 5 6 and the other (the "precipitating" antibody) forms a soluble complex with intrinsic factor and vitamin B12.7 8 9 10 11 It has not been established whether such abnormal antibodies are the result of . . .This publication has 38 references indexed in Scilit:
