Abstract
This paper deals with the articulation facets and ligaments of apparatuses of the chichlid fish Haplochromis elegans. It provides a basic description for comparative studies of the functional morphology of cichlid fishes. Therefore, those aspects of con- nections relevant to functional morphology (viz. position, shape, kind of tissue) are emphasized. The functional significance of the described characters and their role in various biological activities are discussedKeywords
