Abstract
We present a three-dimensional analysis of counterpropagating waves in a periodic nonlinear slab waveguide. The analysis reveals the existence of two-dimensional gap solitons, whose stability depends on their total power's being above (unstable) or below (stable) a critical power. Numerical experiments validate the analytical results.Keywords
