Abstract
We investigate the propagation of shear acoustic waves in both a metal whose Fermi surface is spherical and one having a spin-density-wave ground state in a magnetic field parallel to the direction of sound propagation. In particular we study the nature of the Kjeldaas absorption edge for these two models with special emphasis on potassium at liquid-helium temperature. At sufficiently high frequency the position of the Kjeldaas edge of the spin-density-wave is substantially lower than for the free-electron model. Keywords
