Abstract
An Ising model with competing nearest and more-than-nearest neighbour interactions on a hierarchical lattice is solved by decimation. In the context of nonlinear mappings the renormalisation group trajectories are analysed as the competition parameter is varied. Commensurate and incommensurate phases are identified. Keywords
