Abstract
The authors present cross sections for excitation and de-excitation of neon by electron impact at energies up to 20 eV above the ground state, calculated by the R-matrix method. Comparison with available experimental data is satisfactory, and a number of transitions between excited states are examined theoretically for the first time. The effect of resonances on the cross section is seen to be quite large in some instances. In addition, calculated values of the oscillator strength fik and transition probabilities Aki for the 3s-3p transition array of neon are given, and are compared with other recent theoretical and experimental values. Keywords
