Abstract
The behavior of a general quantum-mechanical system under the influence of an intense monochromatic driving field is discussed. The resonance representation is introduced to derive the analog to the Rabi formula for the case where the driving field is at a resonance of the system. The first approximation result contains the slowly varying perturbation contribution to all orders and is shown to be valid for both coherent and incoherent monochromatic driving fields. Keywords
