Abstract
Nurses employed in nursing homes were trained as Geriatric Nurse Practitioners (GNPs) and then implemented their new clinical roles as direct employees of the original facility. Described is the initial implementation from the perspective of 30 GNPs, their directors of nursing, and their administrators. Informants perceived the GNPs as having positive effects on resident outcomes, but also described difficulties in fully implementing the role. Keywords
