Abstract
A MEASLES vaccination campaign was initiated by the North Bedfordshire District Health Authority after a survey identified poor administration and a lack of commitment among health authority staff, as main causes of the low measles vaccine uptake in the area. The campaign ran for six months during the autumn and winter of 1983-84, reaching GPs, health visitors and schools, and attracting interest from the local press, radio and TV. The number of measles vaccinations rose from 760 between October 1982 and February 1983, to 1,656 during the same period the following year, while notifications of the disease fell from 169 to 23.
